Nice City
Nice benefits from an exceptional micro-climate which contributes to the city's fame for nearly over 200 years now.
Open towards the sea, the city is protected from the winds by its hills – in the west – by the massif of Estérel and – in the north-west – by the barrier of the Mercantour-Alpes. Due to the breeze from the sea the climate is never too hot in the summer and always mild during the winter months.
It is not unusual to have lunch on the terrace, dressed in a simple tee-shirt, in the middle of February whilst the rest of France is still enduring the cold winter temperatures.
